Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Grace’s Bird Cage (“we,” “us”) collects when you use gracesbirdcage.com, how we use it and your choices. We don’t sell your personal information.

Information we collect

• Usage data, collected automatically by Google Analytics 4: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as clicks on outbound and affiliate links, tool completions and sign-up submissions.
• Email sign-ups: your email address and optional first name when you join our email list. These are stored by our email provider, AWeber.
• Contact form: your name, email and message, delivered to our inbox so we can reply.
• Tool inputs: what you type into our tools. The Bird Seed Selector and Placement Calculator run entirely in your browser and send nothing to us. The Bird ID Helper, Feeder Setup Planner and Journal Generator send your inputs to Google’s Gemini API to generate a response. We don’t save those inputs to a database. A generated feeder plan is held briefly in your browser session so you can email it to yourself.
• “Email my plan”: if you ask us to email your feeder plan, we use your address only to send that email, unless you separately choose to join our list.

Cookies and similar technologies

• Google Analytics (e.g., _ga cookies) to measure site usage. Opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Google Ads tag: we use Google’s advertising tag to measure the results of any ads we run and, where enabled, to build remarketing audiences. You can manage ad personalization in Google’s Ad Settings. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Affiliate cookies: when you click an Amazon or Birdfy (Awin) link, those companies may set cookies to attribute a purchase to us.
• Cloudflare Turnstile on our AI tools and some forms helps block automated abuse and may process technical data about your browser.
• Local storage: we remember that you dismissed the cookie notice (gbc_cookies_accepted).

We don’t currently show display advertising. If that changes, we’ll update this policy first.

How we use information

• To run, measure and improve the site and tools
• To send emails you asked for, such as your plan or our newsletter. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link.
• To reply to messages
• To attribute affiliate purchases and measure marketing
• To prevent abuse and comply with law

Sharing

We share data only with service providers that help run the site: Google (Analytics, Ads, Gemini API), AWeber (email), Cloudflare (security and delivery), our web host, and affiliate networks (Amazon, Awin) for referral attribution. We don’t sell or rent personal information.

Retention

• Analytics data follows our Google Analytics retention setting.
• Email subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to respond.
• AI tool inputs aren’t stored by us beyond the request, or the browser session for a plan you may email to yourself.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, including California (CCPA/CPRA) and the EU/UK (GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information and to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us at [email protected]. You can unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any email.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
